The only thing on the internet that is going to help you get ready for whatever is going down at your house this holiday season.

Starting on Tuesday, October 28, you and I are going to start sorting out the kitchen, the living room, the entryway, and the bathroom.  Clearing the clutter.  Organizing all of the things.

So that on Thanksgiving Eve instead of stressing out about:

  • whether we have enough flour to make gravy
  • or where everyone is going to hang their coats
  • or if the Christmas lights will actually turn on when we plug them in

We will be sitting with our feet up in front of the TV, testing the signature cocktail we’ll be serving all season while the bread dries out for the stuffing.

Right now you are either excited about that.

Or extremely nervous.

And wondering how this is all going to go down.

So, I'll tell you how this guide works.

Every day for the 30 days leading up to Thanksgiving, you’ve got a task to complete at some point during the day.  That point is probably going to be after work because I, for one, would not be getting up at the crack of dawn to organize my silverware drawer before I figure out what I’m going to wear for the 10 a.m. Zoom meeting that might determine whether or not I’m getting a raise and a bonus this year.

This is why the Monday to Friday tasks will be smaller than the weekend tasks.  So that you can do them without spending all of your after-work hours…working.

The Saturday and Sunday tasks are going to be bigger.  Because we are not dilly dallying.  We want to get the “hosting” spaces of your home in order before the first major event of the season shows up totally unexpectedly on November 27.

Here's a peek at the agenda:

Days 1-4 | PREPPING TO WORK

Five things that nobody else is doing right now that they are really gonna wish they had done when they wake up scream-crying the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

They are also going to set the stage for our decluttering and organizing extravaganza of daily tasks.

Days 5-8 | STUFF WE USE FOR COOKING AND BAKING

The holidays are all about spending time with friends and family.  And they expect to eat.

So, we’re focusing on sorting, editing, and organizing all the things we use to cook and bake the yummy goodness.

Also, is anyone doing Christmas Cards this year?

Days 9-14 | STUFF WE USE FOR EATING, DRINKING, AND SERVING

We’re all about making sure we’re not at all embarrassed to ask our guests to help us set the table.

And that we have what we need to set the table and serve the food and drink the drinks.

Days 15-19 | STUFF WE KEEP IN THE PANTRY, FRIDGE, AND FREEZER

From the cupboards to your cooler, we’re figuring out what you’ve got, what you need, and where it all should go so that you can grab the poultry seasoning out of the pantry without knocking over the flour and the Special K with strawberries and dropping cans of expired tuna fish on top of your head.

Plus, we’ll finally find out what’s inside that lump of freezer snow hiding in the back.

Days 20-27 | PLACES WE GREET + ENTERTAIN OUR FAVORITE PEOPLE (AND RANDOM OTHER FOLKS WHO ALSO SHOW UP)

Including the 3 spaces you don’t want to deal with, but really should.

Something private, something crowded, and something everyone else in America is also doing right now.

Days 28-30 | PREPPING TO ENJOY OURSELVES

Finishing touches (without the freaking out). And you’re ready.  #ALLISCALM.
